HEARTBEAT PRODUCTIONS - A HISTORY

It all started for me in 1976 with a band called Good Question, seen playing live in a lunchtime club at the then Bristol Rovers football ground - not particularly inspiring, but….there was something about the music, something about the guitarist - something about the….well, lets just say something different was going on here, a sense of excitement - and I hadn't felt that about music since hearing the Small Faces and The Who in 1965!

Having been accustomed to Disco's, Rock Venues and Folk Clubs (nothing wrong with that it
could be said), things were about to change, and change with avengeance. What had been going on at the Rovers ground was in fact what was also sweeping the rest of the UK - the prelude to Punk/New Wave, high energy R&B had arrived. I had seen it in it crudest form, (no
offence Good Question) before it was about to be grabbed by the balls thanks to Bristol's premier Punk brats The Cortinas - Punk/New Wave was born in the West Country.

LOADED

Good Question became The Primates, I was lending a hand while assisting with production of Loaded, Bristol's own Fanzine. Bands were springing up everywhere (Android Pups, The Pigs The Media, Social Security) & clubs were opening their doors to punk (Chutes, The Bear, BQ,
The Dug Out, Bamboo Club, Barton Hill Youth Cub) - this was great! something was really happening in Bristol.
