What is Loop recording?

In the simplest terms, Loop recording is the procedure of capturing audio or video continuously to either an analog or digital soundboard, or to a computer hard-disk, or both. The recorded audio or video is then compressed (that is, downsampled) to loss-less format and stored onto a computer hard-disk. That is how it gets to your ears, on the other side.

How then does this work? Basically, Digital audio input (i.e., the audio you are shooting or playing) comes in the form of digital audio tracks. The Digital Audio Sampler will first sample the audio to a high-resolution digital filter, which will then be blended with the audio input signal and converted into a digital output. This way, we get a “clean” recording from the input source. The recording software will then make adjustments to the audio input and output, based on the digital output signal, in order to create the desired audio editing result.

Video recording, on the other hand, works in a similar fashion. The main difference between audio recording and video recording is that in the latter, the video is not “downloaded” onto the hard-disk like the audio input. Rather, the video is simply captured from the hard-disk and displayed on the monitor, while the audio input is converted and stored directly into the computer’s memory. Digital video output is therefore not “downloaded” as it is an independent transfer from the hard-disk. It is stored on the hard-disk and the resulting video is displayed on the monitor.

When you take advantage of Loop recording software, you will find that there are numerous options available. There are various types of loop recording software that will allow you to either record audio or video. For example, there are some software packages that have been developed primarily for use with live performances, whereas there are others that are best for studio recordings. Most software packages will let you choose from a number of recording styles and tools that are very user-friendly. This audio input is what you will use in your recording program of choice. Once you have saved your file, you may want to launch your recording program and then click the Record button.

Recording loops is not nearly as difficult as it may sound. In fact, it is quite the opposite. You don’t even need any expensive audio equipment to get started. All that is required is a microphone that has a good sound quality, a program that can open and play the audio file that you desire to record, and a simple audio interface that let you hear what the recorded media sounds like. The final piece of software that you need to get started is a high quality audio interface. It is recommended that you use something that uses OBS (Electronic Sample Software), as this ensures a very precise and stable recording.
